THE METALS AND THE STARS / Métaux et les astres, 2012
Installation
An allegoric scene: two triangular metal tabourets, one higher than the other, are placed about 2 meters apart and facing each other. This is the set for a performance / rite / play to unfold, which is detailed in the score. The performance, which is mostly a tragi-comic series of existential questions, takes place mostly with the players seated on the tabourets. These structures are placed on top of what looks like a circular heap of soil. This is actually ground coffee, which fills the space with its scent. There are traces of movement in the coffee. On top of the chairs are placed two bronze mask-glasses. The coffee heap is also a mixture of bronze powder, gold powder and pearls. The pearls are arranged in the pattern of a constellation. There are two unisex robes close at hand, on a triangular structure hung on the wall.
Une scène allegorique: deux chaises triangulaires, placées en face avec une distance de 2 mètres entre elles. Une est plus haute que l’autre. Les chaises sont sur un “heap” d’une matière, qui semble être de la terre. En fait, c’est du café moulu, où il y a les traces du mouvement. Il y a deux masques-lunettes en laiton placés sur les chaises. La poudre de bronze, poudre d’or pur et les perles sont melangés avec le café. Les perles sont arrangées sous forme de constellation. Il y a deux robes unisexes pas très loin, sur un portant triangulaire installé sur le mur.
